Student Orientation/Induction

New student will receive an orientation/induction.  Its purpose is to fully inform new students aspects of life at The Academy of International Education (Australia), TAIE’s policies and expectations, relevant Australian regulations, transport, health, banking, postal, communication, and available recreational activities. 

Accommodation

New student must advise TAIE whether accommodation is needed when completing the Application for Enrolment form.  The types of accommodation could be home-stay, hostels, dormitories or serviced apartments.

Employment

International students may apply for permission to work for up to 20 hours per week during school term, provide it does not interfere with their studies.  There is fee to be paid to Australian Immigration for this visa.  Students may also work full time during term breaks.  Work is not easy to find and under no circumstances can students rely on income earned in Australia to pay tuition fees.  TAIE will assist all enrolled students in finding work and/or work practice opportunities. 

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

International students studying in Australia are required to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their student visa.

Overseas student health cover (OSHC) is insurance that provides cover on the costs for medical and hospital care which international students may need while in Australia. OSHC will also pay for most prescription drugs and emergency ambulance transport.

You need to maintain OSHC throughout your stay in Australia.  You can find out more about OSHC at: www.ahm.com.au/oshc 

Refund

In line with AQTF and ESOS regulations, The Academy of International Education will issue refunds as per the conditions outlined in the Student Handbook.
